Education Qualification

As per the latest NMC guidelines (Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025), DNB / DNB Super Speciality will be considered valid qualifications for selection to the post of Senior Resident / Tutor.

The minimum educational qualification for Senior Resident / Tutor posts will be a Postgraduate (PG) Degree in the relevant specialty. Only in the event of a shortage of eligible candidates, the minimum qualification will be a Diploma, for which 10 marks equivalent to a Postgraduate degree will be awarded. However, their position in the merit list will be ranked below Post-Graduate degree holders. Equivalent PG degree holders as per the Medical Council of India (MCI) teacher eligibility qualifications will also be eligible for selection.

40% of Senior Resident / Tutor posts will be filled by members of the Bihar State Health Services Cadre, 40% of posts will be filled by doctors who have completed their Postgraduate degree course (under the Residency Scheme) from Medical / Dental Colleges of the state, and the remaining 20% of posts will be filled by doctors who have obtained their Postgraduate degree (Residency Scheme) from recognized institutions outside the state.
