Bihar Police Company Commander (Bihar Home Guard) 2026: Exam Pattern/ Syllabus
Stage 1: Preliminary Examination (प्रारंभिक परीक्षा)

Exam Nature: Object-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Marks & Questions: 200 total marks with 100 questions.

Duration: 2 hours.

Syllabus: General Knowledge and Current Affairs.

Qualifying Criteria: Minimum 30% marks required to clear.

Selection Multiplier: Candidates equal to 20 times the number of vacancies will be shortlisted category-wise for the Mains exam based on merit.

Normalization: Equi-Percentile Method will be used if the exam is held in multiple shifts.
Stage 2: Main Examination (मुख्य परीक्षा)
The Mains exam consists of two mandatory papers:

Paper 1 (General Hindi):

Total 200 marks, 100 questions, and a 2-hour duration.

Requires a minimum qualifying score of 30%.

Marks obtained will not be counted towards the final merit list.

Paper 2 (General Studies):

Total 200 marks, 100 questions, and a 2-hour duration.

Syllabus: General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Geography, Mathematics, and Mental Ability Test.

Negative Marking: For both stages (Prelims & Mains), 0.2 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

Selection Multiplier: Candidates equal to 6 times the total vacancies will be selected category-wise for the Physical Test based on Paper 2 scores.
Stage 3: Physical Efficiency Test (शारीरिक दक्षता परीक्षा)
