Eligibility Criteria

1. Laboratory Technician

• Intermediate / 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

• The above qualification should be followed by Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) / Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from any recognized University/ Institution.

2. Senior Laboratory Technician

• M. Sc. Medical Microbiology / Applied Microbiology / General Microbiology / Biotechnology / Biochemistry with or without DMLT.

And

• Two years of work experience in TB Laboratory Test - Mycobacterium tuberculosis related Genotypic tests (Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests, Line Probe Assay) / Phenotypic Tests (Culture & Drug Susceptibility Tests).

OR

• B. Sc Microbiology with DMLT / B. Sc. Biotechnology with DMLT / B. Sc. Biochemistry with DMLT / B. Sc. Chemistry with DMLT / B. Sc. Life science with DMLT / B. Sc. Botany with DMLT / B. Sc. Zoology with DMLT.

And

• Three years of work experience in TB Laboratory Test - Mycobacterium tuberculosis related Genotypic tests (Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests, Line Probe Assay) / Phenotypic Tests (Culture & Drug Susceptibility Tests).

Required Documents for SHS Bihar Lab Technician Recruitment 2025

Candidates applying for the SHS Bihar Lab Technician Bharti 2025 must upload/submit the following documents at the time of application and verification:

1. Educational Certificates

   • 10th / Matriculation Certificate

   • 12th / Intermediate Certificate with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB)

   • Graduation / Post-Graduation Degree Certificate (B.Sc., M.Sc., BMLT, or DMLT)

2. Work Experience Certificate

   • Mandatory proof of work experience in TB Laboratory Tests (only for Senior Laboratory Technician posts).

3. Caste Certificate (if applicable)

   • Valid SC / ST / BC / EBC / EWS Certificate issued by the competent authority of Bihar for availing reservation benefits.

4. PwD Certificate (if applicable)

   • Disability Certificate showing 40% or more disability, issued by a recognized medical authority.

5. Domicile Certificate

   • Proof of residence for Bihar state candidates.

6. Identity Proof

   • Any one of the following: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, or Passport.

7. Photographs

   • Recent passport-size color photographs (as per application guidelines).

3. Click on the “Apply Online” link for Advt. No. 09/2025 (available from September 1, 2025).
4. Register with a valid email ID and mobile number, and verify with OTP.
5. Log in using the provided credentials and fill the application form with personal and educational details.
6. Upload scanned photo, signature, and necessary documents (e.g., educational certificates).
7. Pay the application fee through Debit Card / Credit Card / Net Banking.
8. Submit the form and download the confirmation page for future reference.

 Exam Pattern: Senior Laboratory Technician and Laboratory Technician 2025

The basis for selection will be determined as follows:

i) Selection will be based on a Computer Based Test (CBT) and work experience.

• (a) A Computer Based Test (CBT) of 75 marks will be conducted.

  • Note: The marks obtained in the CBT will be weighted at 0.8 times. For example, if a candidate scores 50 marks in the CBT, their final weighted score will be 50 x 0.8, which equals 40 marks. (This section of the image is cut off at the end of the line, but the example is clear.)

• (b) For work experience in the prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic, candidates working as Lab Technicians on a temporary basis will be given a maximum of 20 marks. The marks will be added after multiplying the number of working days by 0.05.

  Total Marks: 100 marks

ii) The question paper for the CBT will be in Hindi and English, with a total of 75 objective-type questions. Each question will carry 1 mark.

iii) There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.

iv) The syllabus for the examination will be published separately on the official website of the State Health Society, Bihar.

v) The exam duration will be 75 minutes. In case the exam is conducted in more than one shift, the normalization process will be used to prepare the results.

vi) For the CBT, candidates will be shortlisted in a 1:2.5 ratio. The merit list will be prepared based on the marks and category reservation.

vii) The minimum qualifying marks for the merit list will be determined later.

Cut-off Marks for CBT

Based on the guidelines mentioned in Memo No. 2374 dated 16.07.2007 and 962 dated 22.01.2021, the minimum cut-off marks for qualifying the CBT are as follows:

• General/Unreserved: 40%
• Backward Class: 36.5%
• Extremely Backward Class: 34%
• SC/ST/Women/Disabled: 32%

Work Experience

As per the instruction number 13, the work experience for selection should be from a government institution/civil surgeon-cum-medical officer-in-charge/superintendent of a government medical college and hospital/hospital. Experience from any other institution will not be considered. The decision of the State Health Society, Bihar, will be final in cases of dispute regarding the work experience certificate.
