UPESSC UP Head Master 2026: Eligibility Criteria

• Post-Graduation: Master’s degree from a recognized University or Deemed University with a minimum of 50% marks.

• Professional Qualification: B.Ed. degree from an NCTE-recognized institution.

• Teaching / Administrative Experience:

  1. Minimum 4 years of teaching experience as a Lecturer or Assistant Teacher in higher classes (Class 9 to 12) in a Govt./State-recognized institution.

UPESSC UP Head Master 2026 Selection Process & Written Exam Pattern

• Total Selection Marks & Scheme:

  • Selection for the Headmaster post in non-government aided schools (Boys/Girls) will be based on a merit list out of 400 total marks, comprising a 360-mark written test (120 objective questions) and a 40-mark interview.

• Tie-Breaking Order:

  • If candidates tie in overall merit, marks obtained in the written examination will be evaluated first.

  • If written exam marks are equal, marks secured in the interview will be checked.

  • If interview marks are also identical, the percentage of marks in Post-Graduation will be considered.

  • If Post-Graduation percentages match, marks obtained in B.Ed. / B.P.Ed. will be compared.

  • If all scores and academic percentages remain equal, preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age.

• Exam Duration:

  • The written examination will have a total duration of 2 hours (120 minutes).

• Question Format & Marking Guidelines:

  • All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with 4 choices, and candidates must fill their responses on the answer sheet using a black ballpoint pen.

• Medium of Examination:

  • The question paper will be available in both Hindi and English languages (excluding language-specific subjects).

• Marking Scheme & Negative Marking:

  • Each correct answer awards +03 marks.

  • A penalty of -01 mark (Negative Marking) will be applied for every wrong answer or multiple-marked response.

• Publication of Cut-off Marks:

  • Cut-off marks and individual candidate scores will be published on the official website upon completion of the selection process.
